Register Import Export Code

Introduction

An Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is essential for the businesses who are engaged in activity of Import and Export. IEC is a unique 10-digit code issued by Director General of Fireign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce. There is no need of filing any return nor any requirement of renewal of IEC. IEC is used by export to send shipments, clear customs formalities and receive money from foreign banks, whereas importers are required to clear shipments from customs and transfer money to foreign banks.

    The following are the documents required for obtaining IEC:

    1. PAN card of the individual, Firm or company, as the case may be
    2. Copy of the entity’s ID issued by Government (Voter Id / Driving License/Aadhaar)
    3. Incorporation certificate/Partnership deed
    4. Personal or company’s current bank account statement
    5. Copy of cancelled cheque of the current account
    6. Address proof (Electricity bill/rent agreement/sale deed of the office location
